Privacy Policy

BoltTorque (the "Service") is operated as a paid web calculator at bolttorqcalc.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. It applies to the marketing site, the activation flow, and the calculator itself.

1. Data we collect

At purchase (handled by LemonSqueezy, our Merchant of Record):

• Email address
• Billing name and country (for tax compliance)
• Payment information — never sent to our servers; handled entirely by LemonSqueezy and their payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, etc.)

At activation (handled by our license service):

• The email you submit
• The license key you submit
• A short browser/device label (e.g. "Win32 · 2026-04-19") so you can identify your activations

During use of the calculator:

• We collect no usage data, no telemetry, no analytics. All your flange inputs, outputs, and history stay on your device (browser localStorage).
• The only background network call is a license re-check, which happens at most once every 30 days and sends only your license key and device instance ID.

2. Why we collect it

• Purchase data — to process your payment and email you the license key and receipt.
• Activation data — to enforce the device limit (3 activations per license) and to let you recover or transfer access.
• Nothing is used for advertising, profiling, or sold to third parties.

3. Who processes your data

• LemonSqueezy Inc. — checkout, invoicing, license key issuance, refunds. They are the Merchant of Record. See their privacy policy.
• Cloudflare Inc. — hosts the website and the license verification worker. Standard request logs (IP, user agent) are retained briefly per Cloudflare's policy.
• We (the Service operator) — receive your email and activation records from LemonSqueezy for support purposes.

4. Data retention

• Purchase records are retained by LemonSqueezy for tax and compliance purposes (typically 7 years, per their policy).
• Activation records (email + license key + device instance) are retained as long as your license is active. You may request deletion after refund.
• On-device calculator data (inputs, history) persists until you clear your browser storage; we never see it.

5. Your rights

• Request a copy of the data we hold on you — email support@bolttorqcalc.com.
• Request correction or deletion — same address.
• Refunds and payment-related data requests — LemonSqueezy handles these within 14 days per their policy.

6. International transfers

Our infrastructure (Cloudflare, LemonSqueezy) is based in the United States and may process data globally. By purchasing, you consent to this transfer.

7. Cookies and local storage

The marketing site uses no tracking cookies. The calculator uses browser localStorage to store your license (for activation) and calculation history (local only). These are not cookies and are not sent to any server except during explicit license validation.

8. Children

BoltTorque is a professional engineering tool. We do not knowingly accept purchases from, or collect data from, anyone under 16.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified via the website footer and, for active customers, by email.
